Why choose Valley Veterinary?

What We Offer
Services available
Preventative Equine Healthcare
Good equine healthcare begins with prevention. Regular veterinary assessments help identify health concerns early, often before they affect welfare, comfort or performance. Recommendations are tailored to each horse’s age, workload, management system and individual needs.
Equine Sports Medicine & Performance
Every horse is an athlete, whether competing at international level or being enjoyed at weekends. Stevie has significant experience in equine sports medicine and poor performance based on year of experience in ambulatory practice, equine research and Thoroughbred racing environments.
Our goal is always to identify factors limiting performance while prioritising horse welfare, soundness and longevity. By building an understanding of what is normal for each individual horse over time, objective monitoring can help identify subtle changes in health, soundness or performance at an earlier stage.
Advanced Equine Diagnostics
Valley Veterinary has invested in advanced portable diagnostic equipment, allowing many investigations to be performed where horses live, train and perform.
We provide
Equine Dentistry
Dental health plays an important role in your horse’s overall welfare, comfort, feeding efficiency and ridden performance. Valley Veterinary provides routine dental examinations and treatment directly at your yard. Group dental bookings can be arranged for shared livery yards.
Equine Reproduction & Stud Medicine
Valley Veterinary provides reproductive and breeding services for horse owners and breeding operations throughout the region. Drawing on experience in equine reproduction and stud practice, we provide practical veterinary support throughout the breeding season for both individual mare owners and larger operations.
Pre-Purchase Examinations
Purchasing a horse represents a significant investment. Valley Veterinary provides independent pre-purchase examinations for leisure horses, competition horses, breeding stock and racing Thoroughbreds. The purpose is to provide an informed veterinary opinion regarding findings and how they relate to the horse’s intended use.
Bloodstock & Thoroughbred Sales
Valley Veterinary enables informed decision-making by providing veterinary support for owners, trainers, breeders and bloodstock purchasers at both private and public sales.
Equine Performance Monitoring
Valley Veterinary offers performance monitoring and data interpretation services using modern wearable technologies. These services are particularly useful for competition horses, young performance horses, racehorses in training and horses returning from injury — complementing good horsemanship with objective data.

Referral & Specialist Care
As an independent practice, Valley Veterinary works closely with a network of specialist equine referral hospitals and surgeons. Should a case require advanced surgery, hospitalisation or specialist expertise, referral options will be discussed collaboratively. Our role continues throughout the referral process, helping ensure continuity of care and communication between all parties.

Whether due to injury, illness or age-related decline, Valley Veterinary provides compassionate and professional support throughout the process, always focused on maintaining the horse’s dignity, welfare and comfort. We are available to discuss quality of life concerns and end-of-life planning in a supportive and confidential manner.
